Today we hit the road for the Northwest. I've been wanting to make this trip for some time. I think we've been talking about it for the last 2 years. I finally sat down and mapped out our destinations and was able to set the plan in motion.
New places we'll visit:
Willits, CA
Bandon, OR
Portland, OR
Seattle, WA
Vancouver, Canada
Grants Pass, OR
Along the way we will stop off at some recommended eateries that are recommended from the TV show "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". This show asks professional chefs to give their recommendation on where and what you should eat. Seeing that I love food and Darren loves to eat we are pretty excited to try different places. Our first stop was to visit Tyler Florence's kitchen store in Mill Valley. This might not be interesting to most of you but Tyler is one of my favorite chefs. I cook his horseradish crusted prime rib every new year for my family and his bourbon peach cobbler is also one of our family favorites among many others. After milling around in his shop we went around the corner to eat at Pearl's Phatburger, recommended by Tyler as having the best burger he had ever eaten. Our verdict was that it was a pretty great burger. I would recommend it to anyone coming through Mill Valley, too.
Our days car travels ended up lasting over 7 1/2 hrs. This day will be one of our longest travel days with only 6 1/2 hrs tomorrow. We'll be heading up Hwy 101 with breathtaking views so I'm sure that will go by fast. No exciting food places to eat at until we get to Oregon but I'm sure we'll find something.
For now we are snuggled nice and cozy in our hotel in Willits, CA (never heard of the place until now) and looking forward to all the new adventures and sights we will take in in the days to come.
Until tomorrow........
Kelly
